Fraction
A part of a whole. It has a numerator and a denominator.
Numerator
The top part of a fraction. The part that is "named."
Denominator
The bottom part of a fraction. It tells the total number of equal parts.
Mixed Number
A whole number and a fraction.
Equivalent Fractions
Fractions that have the same value, but may have different numerators and denominators.
Reducing or Simplifying Fractions
Making the terms of the fraction smaller, but keeping the value the same.
Improper Fraction
The numerator is equal to or greater than the denominator.
Estimate
Round
Number Line
A line marked with numbers at evenly spaced intervals.
Least Common Denominator (LCD)
The smallest denominator that two or more fractions have in common.
Least Common Multiple (LCM)
The smallest multiple (other than zero) that two or more numbers have in common.
Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
The largest factor that two or more numbers have in common. This is used to reduce fractions.
