How do you add decimals?
Step 1: Write down the numbers, one under the other, with the decimal points lined up.
Step 2: Put in zeros so the numbers have the same length.
Step 3: Then add using column addition, remembering to put the decimal point in the answer.
How do you subtract decimals?
Step 1: Write down the numbers, one under the other, with the decimal points lined up.
Step 2: Put in zeros so the numbers have the same length.
Step 3: Then subtract using column subtraction, remembering to put the decimal point in the answer.
How do you multiply decimals?

i.e. .7 x .03 =
Step 1: Multiply normally, ignoring the decimal points.
Step 2: Then put the decimal point in the answer - it will have as many decimal places as the two original numbers combined.
i.e. .7 x .03 = 0.028
How do you divide decimals?

i.e. 0.7 ÷ 3.5
Step 1: If the divisor is not a whole number, move decimal point to right to make it a whole number ( 3.5 becomes 35) and move decimal point in dividend the same number of places (0.7 becomes 7).
Step 2: Divide as usual. Keep dividing until the answer terminates or repeats.
Step 3: Put decimal point directly above decimal point in the dividend. (answer = 0.2)
