The application for a salesperson examination must be submitted to the BRE on the Salesperson Examination Application, or RE 400A, along with the applicable fee for the exam.

The salesperson exam takes three hours and fifteen minutes and contains 150 questions.
To pass the examination, the applicant must earn a score of 70% or higher.
6. An applicant who fails to take the examination on the scheduled date may apply for another examination date by completing, signing and submitting the Salesperson Examination Schedule Notice (RE 401A), along with the appropriate fee.
7. Applicants are notified of their exam score by mail, usually within 5 days, or they can check the BRE exam website, at https://secure.dre.ca.gov/elicensing/.
8. There is no limitation on the number of reexaminations a person can take, but an application is valid for only two years.
9. Each examination application must include the reexamination fee.
