-I grew up in a rural area outside of Binghamton NY on the boarder of PA.
-My neighbors were a creek and a cemetery
-Where I lived shoes and a shirt are not a requirement to get the mail
-I grew up in a area where very few people leave and those who did typically find their way back for the wrong reasons
Did anyone discourage you from pursuing PA school?
-Many people:doctors tell me to either be a doctor or be an NP. -NPs and nurses tell me to be an NP and some PAs regret their decision
-Nonetheless, I have established my own inferences and know that this is the path for me

-I have a munckin cat
-Ive lived in a camper for the last year
What pushes your buttons - what kinds of things make you angry?
-Inconsiderate people because I am so over the top considerate
-People who don't act fast and waste time
-People who take advantage of me
How would you cope with having to give bad news to kids/parents/anyone?
-I usually prepare what I am going to say; that way I get out everything that has to be said and I don't stumble over it
-As for medical bad news, I have yet to be in the position to have to give it however I am sure through my studies I will learn the correct way and or at least tips on the best way to go about doing it
Tell me about your university and why you decided to pick that school
-I picked my school because it allowed me to attend for almost nothing
-MY achievements in high school allowed me to be granted the presidential scholarship that covered room board and tuition
-It was something my family couldnt pass up

Worst part about school will be trying to retain every little thing. In the medical profession nothing is minute

-I would go tell the dean. Having a drug problem effects everyone and isn't a habit that can coexist with medicine. As much as I wouldn't want to rock the boat, I wouldn't want to see any patients suffer

-I am offended when I tell people I am going to be a PA they tell me they prefer to see the doctor

-I will become very emotionally attached to my patients and their families
-As a NA I struggled to leave the sad days at the hospital
Name a quality you saw in one of the physician assistants/doctors/etc. you shadowed that you DO NOT want to embody as a physician assistant.
-In a clinic I shadowed in, the PA was quick to give pain medication.
-He would barely talk to the patient, because he didn't have time, and would simply refill their prescription without even touching them.
-I thought it was terrible to see patients wait months to get into the office only to have the appointment last three minutes with no more medical advice than when they came in
In your experience working with doctors, nurses, etc., what characteristics did you see that you liked the most and liked the least?
-most: passionate in helping their patients, speaking to the patient as an equal, works fast and efficiently
-Least: stubborn in regards to taking others opinions, having a "god complex", not taking time to answer questions

-Yes, I believe you should always follow the law, it is there for a reason
How do you handle stress?
-I take a hot bath or go for a drive and blast some music, call my mom

-The strength in pursing something despite its difficulty

A patient in your clinical trial feels like they are being used as a guinea pig. What do you do?
-I explain to them the process of a clinical trail and empathize with those feelings but assure them that I am acting in their best interest to provide them with the best possible outcome
How would you deal with an ungrateful patient
-I would still treat them with the same respect and care as I give to any patients. -I go above and beyond for each and every patient and they would require even more kindness. -Their ungratefulness is probably being shown through as scariness and it is important to understand that in a stressful situation that is not normal
Are any of your friends applying to PA school? If not, what do they do for a living?
-Most of my friends are now architects or forensic scientists. My program was a deviation form the FS program. Many have chosen to pursue the degree in topics just as toxicology and fingerprinting
What motivates you to get up in the morning?
-Knowing that I have been given another day that many people wish they could be given and my mom, everything I do..I do for her

-One specific time is when I volunteered to sit with a patient over night when he had no one else and I was the only person who could calm him down

-Sometimes I wish I was a little more selfish.

-After over 50 years of services our profession is still not understood

-The ability to think for myself
-I was able to have small classes where we could speak freely and we and time to go beyond the cookie cutter information

-I try to go right to the root of the problem and lay everything out on the field.
-In this profession there isn't time for conflict because patient care will be compromised
-If I and the other person cant work it out I can include a mediator
-The biggest step in handling conflict is seeing the other point of view
How would you balance school and social life?
-School will always be my number one priority however, allowing for a few hours a week act a destressor.

When I sat with a patient before surgery and waited until after he got out because I was his only support system

-in a rural town
-I would focus on more preventive medicine and health education

While NAs spend the most time with the patients they are the least respected and recognized. It is assumed that I am going to be doing that forever and never got an education

-That I worried less about the small stuff
Do you think a physician should tell a patient he/she has eight months to live?
-yes, patients have the right to know about their health and health care
-it is not up to us to decide things like that
-The only thing we can do is provide information and offer services to help them through their tough times
How do you make a patient feel cared for?
-you listen to their concerns and address them in a way they can understand
-many patients feel blind to their care and have many questions
-While these questions are offend answer, they aren't answered in a common way therefore the patient feels left out of their own care
-Simply taking the time to talk to them, shows them that you care
What will you do if you don't get into PA school?
-I will be a PA no matter how long it takes me
How do you plan to finance your PA school education?
-given the generous scholarship I was granted for undergrad, money and taking out loans is not a problem
Would you practice in the inner city? What do you think happens to people who practice medicine there (attitude changes, etc.)?
-My preference I would not choose to work in an inner city even though I believe it is just as much in need as rural areas.
-I believe they get burned out and turn into a prescription factory. And with that comes a disconnect from patients and proper care.
Why do you think so many people want to become a physician assistant?
-It is a very rewarding career with a lot of room for vertical and horizontal job growth. It gives those who want to start medically assisting patients the opportunity to began right away opposed to going on to medical school
Tell me about a time when you were criticized unfairly.
-I once wrote a paper for an English class that was political by topic. I had a different stand point than the professor and he called me out on my ideas in the comments portion of my paper
-it set the ton for the rest of the semester
Do you see yourself working in a community or academic setting?
-I see myself working in a community setting
What have been some of your life experiences with diversity?
-I have a lack of experience with diversity but recognize its importance in the fiel
What is one reason you think that causes qualified candidates like yourself to drop out of PA school?
-family problems or money problems.
-If you already have a family of your own it can be asking a lot to take two to three years away without bringing in any money

-consult UNOS
-all life is precious and the decision would not be mine to make independently
-If I had to choose I would say the 20 year old drug addict

-I mentally weight out the pros and cons of with decision in regards to both the present and future
If you could start your college career all over again, what would you do differently?
-I would not
-I got the best possible education and college experience that I could ask for
-I would have gotten more involved sooner, but during my freshman year I wanted to focus on getting into the swing on college academics
