Character
One of the people (or animals) in a story.
Setting
The place and time in which the action takes place
Plot
The sequence of events in a story; the simple story line; the events in an story in the order that they happen
Conflict
The problem that drives the plot of a story forward to its conclusion
Theme
The underlying idea that the author notes to communicate in his story; an idea that is true in the story and real life
Exposition
The introduction of a story where the author presented the characters and places them in the setting for the first time
Rising action
All the events that take place between the exposition and the climax. During this part of the story, the suspense builds as the conflict becomes more and more intense
Climax
The moment in a story when the outcome of the conflict is decided; the main turning point
Denouncement
The falling action of the story between the climax and the conclusion; when the author discloses secrets unravels mysteries and answers questions that have been present in the story
Conclusion
The ending of a story, the moment when the author presents the characters in their setting for the last time
Protagonist
The hero of the story; the main character
Antagonist
The villain in a story; the character that opposes the protagonist
