Anthropology
The study of the human species and its immediate ancestors.
Holistic
Encompassing past, present, and future; biology, society, language, and culture. It is a comparative field that examines all societies, ancient and modern, simple and complex. Offers a unique cross-cultural perspective by constantly comparing the customs of one society with those of others.
Culture
Traditions and customs transmitted through learning, that form and guide the beliefs and behavior of the people exposed to them. Children learn such a tradition by growing up in a particular society, through a process called enculturation.
Food Production
An economy based on plant cultivation and/or animal domestication.
General Anthropology or "four field"
Anthropology as a whole: cultural, archaeological, biological, and linguistic anthropology. Of the subfields, cultural anthropology has the largest membership.
