Terms in this set (11)
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist a change in its motion
Newton's First Law
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Newton's Second Law
Force equals mass times acceleration
Newton's Third Law
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Proportional Force
Acceleration = Net Force
Inversely Proportional Force
Acceleration = 1 divided by mass
Friction
A force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are in contact
Pressure
Force per unit area.
Terminal Speed
The speed at which the acceleration of a falling object is zero because friction balances the weight
Interaction
Mutual action between objects where each object exerts an equal and opposite force on the other
Action Force & Reaction Force
Equal and opposite forces
