To select a file
Click the filename or file icon.
To select multiple files
Hold the ctrl key and click on each filename or file icon that needs to be selected.
To move a file
Select the file and drag it to the new location OR select the file, right click, select Cut or Copy, click on new location, right click, and click on Paste
To retrieve deleted files
Double-click the Recycle Bin; right-click the filename that you want to restore; click Restore.
To empty the Recycle Bin
Right-click the Recycle bin icon on the desktop; click Empty Recycle Bin.
Strategies for Working with Files
1. Name and organize files/folders using easy names that are descriptive, short, and easy to remember. 2. Delete unneeded files/folders. 3. Back up your files/folders to protect them in case they are deleted or a computer crashes.

Word Processing software - used to create, edit, and print documents and then save them electronically.
Spreadsheet software - A grid with columns and rows that is used to evaluate, calculate, manipulate, analyze, and present data (text, formulas, and numbers/values)
Presentation software - Computer program used to organize and present information normally in the form of a slideshow.
Desktop Publishing software is used to enhance the layout and design of a document.
The computer along with any software and peripheral devices that are necessary to make the computer function.
Enters data and commands into the computer. Examples: keyboard, mouse, touch screen, microphone, webcam, etc.
Allows the user to view or listen to the data a computer processes. Examples: monitor, printer, headphones, speakers, etc.

Hardware, software, data, people
The actual machine, wires, transistors, and circuits. This includes both input and output devices.
Consists of instructions or programs for controlling the computer.
Text, numbers, sound, images, or video.
A computer case that contains the CPU (Central Processing Unit), power supply, memory, and storage.
Caring for your Storage Device
Remove media from drives and store them properly when not in use; never try to remove the media from a drive when the drive indicator light is on; hold CDs and DVDs on the edge; keep CDs an DVDs in sturdy cases; avoid extreme temperatures; keep away from magnetic fields
The address of the person sending the letter

All parts of the letter begin at the left margin.
There is no punctuation at the end of the opening or closing.
Modified Block Letter
The return address with the date, the closing, and the sender's name are typed 7 tabs in from the left margin.
