Division of basic Gov. roles into branches to avoid the possibility that all powers would fall into the hands of one group
Checks and Balances
How power is evenly distributed
Each branch of Government can exercise checks, or controls over the other branches. Thought the branches are separate, they rely on each other to perform the work of the Gov.
How abuse of power is prevented
In our Gov., everyone, including citizens and powerful leaders must obey laws. Individuals or groups cannot twist or bypass the law to serve their own interest.
