After the Assyrians invaded Israel and destroyed their cities and towns, some Israelites were forced to move to Assyria and those who remained in Israel mixed with people of other cultures. This mixed culture of people became known as the Samaritans.
How did the country of Judah fall?
The Chaldeans under King Nebuchadnezzar, invaded Judah. He forced many people who lived in Jerusalem, Judah's capital, to move to Babylon. He picked a king from those remaining in Judah who was supposed to follow his directions about ruling Judah.
