What is a neuronal pool?
Neuronal pools are functional groups of neurons that integrate incoming information from receptors when forward processes information to other destinations
What is the sequence of a reflex arc?
A reflex is a response to a perturbing stimulus that acts to return the body to homeostasis. This may be subconscious as in the regulation of blood sugar by the pancreatic hormones, may be somewhat noticeable as in shivering in response to a drop in body temperature; or may be quite obvious as in stepping on a nail and immediately withdrawing your foot.
What occurs at the synapse of a neuron?
When a nerve impulse reaches the synapse at the end of a neuron, it cannot pass directly to the next one. Instead, it triggers the neuron to release a chemical neurotransmitter. The neurotransmitter drifts across the gap between the two neurons.
-Nerve cells are functionally classified as sensory neurons, motor neurons, or interneurons.
-Sensory neurons (afferent neurons) are unipolar, bipolar, or multipolar shaped cells that conduct action potentials toward or into the central nervous system.
