Who was David?
The king of Israel who defeated the Philistines, the giant Goliath, and other enemies. He united the Israelites into one kingdom. He also established Jerusalem as the holy city and the capital of Israel. David was a poet and wrote many of the Psalms. He brought the Ark of the Covenant, which held the 10 Commandments, to Jerusalem. This made Jerusalem a holy city.
Who was Solomon?
David's son who built a magnificent temple in the capital city, which became a powerful symbol of faith in God. He also made treaties with neighboring kingdoms. He increased trade. He was a poet who wrote the Book of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.
What happened when Solomon died?
The kingdom of Israel separated into two kingdoms--Israel in the north and Judah in the south
