Means 'land between two rivers', in this case the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers

A rectangular tiered temple or terraced mound erected by the ancient Assyrians and Babylonians in the center of their cities
Hammurabi's Code
1st written set of laws. 282 laws that dealt with almost every part of daily life, like "an eye for an eye"
Sumer
Home to many ancient cities. The cities protected by high walls, with narrow and crowded streets, and plumbing.
