What is the intended use of EzPAP?
-Indicated for use in conjunction with a medical need for lung expansion therapy and treatment and prevention of atelectasis. May be sued with nebulizer between patient and device
What are the parts for EzPAP?
-Positive airway pressure device
Ambients air inlet with 22 mm (serrated male) connection
Gas inlet port
Pressure monitoring port with cap
-Patient interface mouthpiece (or mask)
-7ft O2 tubing to connect gas inlet port to wall flow meter
What is the pressure monitoring port for?
-You connect the device's pressure port to a pressure gauge. This is recommended for initial set up to become aware of pressures transmitted to patient. If pressure monitoring is not being done, seal port with attached pressure monitoring port cap. Pressure monitoring port should not be exposed to ambient air while in use.

-Rounded end of the device. Serrated end is to be exposed to ambient air at all times. Do not Occlude
How do you have the patient use the EzPAP?
-Instruct patient to relax while performing diaphragmatic breathing
-Set flow rate to 5LMP on the wall air or oxygen flow meter
-Place mouthpiece in patients mouth and instruct patient to breathe easily against the pressure from the device.
-While monitoring airway pressure, slowly adjust flow meter until desired expiratory airway pressure is reached.
-Slow inhalations and exhalations by patient will maintain airway pressure during the breathing cycle
-Maintain breathing through EzPAP to accomplish clinical goals
What happens to the pressure when you increase the flow to the device?
-the pressure increases
How does the patient sit while using EzPAP?
Have patient sit with elbows resting comfortably on table
What are contraindications with EzPAP?

-Do not exceed 15 LPM gas input
What are some adverse reactions for EzPAP?
-hypoventilation and hypercarbia
-increased cranial pressure
-decreased venous return
