1. hermits or anchorites-live lives of silence and simplicity
2. consecrated virgins- woman who feels called to dedicate her life to Christ as a virgin
3. monastic life (monks, nuns, and brothers)- total silence and 4 vows (+stability)
4. consecrated lay persons and clerics (religious sisters, brothers, and priests)- profess 3 vows
What is consecrated life?
total and radical dedication of one's life to God and His kingdom
What is the goal of consecrated life?
perfection of charity (agape) by the profession and living the evangelical counsels
What is the origin of consecrated life?
a free response to Christ's invitation
