Banner (n)
a long strip of cloth bearing a slogan or design, carried in a demonstration or procession or hung in a public place; a Web advert, normally found at the top of a page, typically around 468 by 60 pixels in size
Blurb (n)
a short description of a book, film, or other product written for promotional purposes; a brief introduction to the writer, usually following the headline
Byline (n)
the journalist's name at the beginning of a story

exclusive, breaking news coverage of a major news event, printed in red type
Sacred cow (n)
news or promotional material which a publisher or editor demands be published, often for personal reasons
Splash (n)
a front page story
Standfirst (n)
line of text after the headline that gives more information about the article
Standby (n)
a program or item held in reserve in case any scheduled items cannot be broadcast for any reason; an instruction in a studio or outside broadcast for everyone to prepare to start a live program or recording
Strapline (n)
in print and online, a kind of subhead or standfirst immediately following a larger headline; in advertising, a slogan attached to a product brand name, e.g. 'Heineken: Refreshes the parts other beers cannot reach'
Stand-up (n)
an on-site TV report or interview, as compared to in-studio
Subhead (n)
a smaller one-line headline for a story
Tabloid (n)
smaller print newspaper size; unpleasantly bright and sensational
Trailer (n)
a series of extracts from a film or broadcast, used for advance publicity, also called a promo
Teaser (n)
a short introductory advertisement for a product that stimulates interest by remaining cryptic

based upon sensationalism and crude exaggeration
