Karl Marx wrote a pamphlet called the Communist Manifesto". It outlined as form of government that seemed like it made since. The idea was in a country where a lot of poor people were there there arnd few rich people. He says that we should rise up take over rich people and then distribute the food among the poor people.
What was the utopia world that karl Marx created?
He tried to create a perfect world where everyone loved each other. He did not take into account that people are greedy and some people's utopia is other people's distopia.

Czar Nicholas II
Czar Nicholas II was a very strong and stern leader who did not care about the Proletariat's opinion. He had a son named Alexei.
Faberge was a jeweler. The Czar hired Faberge to make these eggs for him for show and they hd 30-60 eggs. He wasted a lot of his money on these eggs that was taxpayers .
The middle class businesspeople and tradesmen. In Marxist theory the social group opposed the proletariat in the class struggle. This was a small population. They would take the side of the Czar if proletariats tried to over through the Czar because they would lose more from communism and the Proletariats would gain more. They also could be the firsts the leave the country if communism did begin to happen.
Czarina Alexandra Romanov
Wife of Czar Nicholas II who lived from 1872-1918. Was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria married off all her children to Kings and Queens of other countries and this caused inter family marriage which caused problems in their children's blood. This was why Alexei had hemophilia.
Son of Nicholas II who had hemophilia which would cause him to bleed to death if he was cut and he would not survive to be the king.

The people who rose up and took over Czar needed a leader. 2 groups of people fighting were Bourgeoisie (White who were on side of Czar) and Bolsheviks (Red who over through Czar). The reds won and their leader was Vladimir Lenin.
Was the leader of the Bolsheviks who won Russian civil war. Named Russia now USSR. He lived only 2 years after the war bc there were 2 bullets in him and they had lead so he died from lead poisoning. He could not create his utopia in this much time. He said they needed industry in USSR bc at this time Russia was mostly agricultural. This is why there is they have this symbol on their flag. he had the dream the Bolsheviks had.
He was the organizer of the Red Army (Bolsheviks). He wrote great speeches and was great at organising. He had great ideas. He formed education and sanitation committees, made better transportation and made better food production. He was betrayed by Stalin and went to Mexico to be with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. He was then assassinated by Stalin's men.
Was called man of steel. He was a soviet politician and dictator. Hated Trotsky. Spread rumors about him bc he wanted to be the position. He became the leader after Trotsky died. He was a powerful leader during the revolution. He first assassinated the military bc they didn't agree with him and then the people who didn't support him. Killed 20 million people in total.

The Battle of Stalingrad (1942)
Hitler's obsession cost the lives of 250,000 Germans and 500,000 Russians. One of the bloodiest battles ever, it was the German army's greatest defeat. Hitler violated pact here and USSR becomes friend of allied power.
Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill all agreed to go after Hitler. They are have different reasons for doing it but it is all the same thing.
Teenager when Russian Revolution broke out. Lived through WWI and WWII. He fought in the Spanish War. People were not sure if the USSR was going to be on the good side so they were hesitant about publishing Animal Farm but then they decided that they were bad. He went to Eaton High School.
