Tell us about your education and teaching experience.
I have a BS in Civil Engineer/Ocean Engineering. I Have worked for Engineering and Construction Companies since then as a Field Engineer and after get an MBA at Oregon State I worked as Construction Division Administrator and Project Engineer. I worked some environmental as well. When I had kids I subcontracted and worked part time jobs till they were in school and then completed my Masters in Education: Secondary Science. I have spent my time and Title 1 schools since then, starting at Traner Middle School and then after 5 years moving on to develop the physical science program at Hug. I taught sections for 5 years, but also helped develop and reestablish the Forensics Program at Hug. I taught Honors Physics for three years and AP Environmental Science for 3 years. I was DL at Traner for 2 years.
Explain how you use ongoing assessment data to differentiate instruction to ensure success for all students.
I use daily , quia and question press activities as short formative assessments, and teams now for student self assessments and check lists. With these come diagnostic data, which allows me to group and reteach or assign on-line reteach like edpuzzles and have students show growth. Students have options to retake tests within a week when they can show a student created study guides.
How do you differentiate a lesson?
I use closed captions, speed settings, and microsoft , nearpod

What is your relationship like with parents?
One of mutual respect and teamwork: I contact parents regularly through email and phone and respond to requests for information quickly. I have a web site and use it to post contact information and information about the class. I have used remind in the past and let will be using teams more exclusively the upcoming year. I get interested parties together to discuss successful strategies when necessary and I post notes regularly with grades to be read by parents.
How will you relate science to real world career experiences?
Conduct research experiments on real life problems.
