Performs operations and comparisons.
Cathode Ray Tube
Older electrical device that displays images with phosphor dots and a scanned electron beam.
Central Processing Unit
The brains of the computer system. Comprised of the control unit, arithmetic logic unit, and temporary storage (RAM).
Disk Operating System
Software used in most computers to manage storage devices and data of any kind.
Integrated Development Environment
A system where you can control the editing and compiling from one program.
Local Area Network
A set of computers connected in order to share programs and storage space.
Object Oriented Programming
The use of small, reusable components to construct large software systems.
Liquid Crystal Display
Used in newer monitors for displaying images. Consists of a layer of liquid crystal in between two transparent electrodes.
The program that manages all the other programs in a computer.
Random Access Memory
Temporary memory lost when the computer is turned off.
Read Only Memory
Hardwired memory which cannot be changed. Contains the system directions.
