What were Mountain Men?
Mountain Men were men who traveling west to learn more about the land and to catch animals such as beavers to trade for large amounts of money. Soon after this became a trail to the west for settlers.
What did the Manifest Destiny state?
The Manifest Destiny stated that god has given the right to own any land from east to west.

What did people wanting to move west pack?
Livestock which contained mostly ox. They also needed food but they couldn't have too little amount or an overly packed amount of food or else they would have to throw it out. The supplies they needed were wheels and axles just in case the Wagon would fall apart.
When would they leave?
They would leave about April to May while the weather was nice and not harsh. So about spring time to avoid the early snow. They also had to make sure that there was enough grass for the animals.
Why did they use a Wagon Train?
It would be safer and there would be more guidance plus there could be up to 15-25 members.
What was the Formation like?
This is how a pioneers day went while crossing west. Single file lines, circle the wagons, protect yourselves from Native Americans and wild animals. Also this is what a schedule would look like. Wake up, Walk, rest a little but, walk then circle the wagons.
What were the hardships that they faced?
First of all American Indians were stealing the peoples animals and livestock and also you would have to pay to cross their lands. Weather was also a big pain. There would also be severe weather such as floods or droughts or even blizzards. For instance the Donner party got unlucky from the weather and most of them died because they had little to no food and no choice but to eat each other. Another hardship faced was that people could run into really big mountains which would be hard to cross over and it was also very hard to cross rivers instead they had to pay for a boat to get across or swim across. One big factor was disease. The main three diseases were Cholera which caused by horrible drinking water, Small Pox killed many people for many years and not just this time period and another one was Dysantary which was constant diarrhea.
What were the four trails and what was the purpose for each one?
The first one is the California Trail. This trail attracted Gold Miners and prospectors got lots of many from the gold mines. Oregon Trail mainly attracted farmers and missionaries and these people wanted to start over and purchase more land. The Santa Fe trail consists of mainly traders for profit but also included farmers and missionaries. This was to trade with New Mexico. The last one is the Mormon Trail which allowed Mormons to escape Religious Persecution and they got chased around a lot for escaping.
What were the three routes?
Overland Route, Sea Route and Panama Route. The Overland route was the cheapest route and allowed people to go across the U.S. and it usually cost 4-6 months.
