Add or Subtract Fractions
Find a common denominator, then find the equivalent fractions, then add numerators, denominator stays same. Simplify.
Move the outside decimal to the wall, then move in the inside decimal same amount of spaces. Put inside decimal above ÷ line, Divide like normal.
Multiply like normal, count decimals places, move the decimal starting from the right to the left, the same amount of spaces
Add or Subtract Decimals
Line up your place values, put zeros in your blank spaces, then add or subtract depending on the problem
Change a fraction to a decimal
Ni/Do (numerator in, denominator out), then add a decimal and two zeros and divide.
Change a decimal to a percent
Move the decimal TWO places to the RIGHT
Change a percent to a decimal
Move the decimal TWO places to the LEFT
Change a decimal to a Fraction
Put the number above its last place value, then Simplify.
number multiplied by the power of. Example: 2^3 is two to the third power, which means 2x2x2 = 8

difference, minus, withdrawal, negative, without, between
area, by, product, each
in each, quotient, divide, better buy, unit rate
3 ways to write a ratio
1 to 4
cross multiply, then divide
Find a percent of a number, when given the percent
Example: 28% of 50
Multiply the equivalent decimal of 28% by 50
0.28 x 50 = 14
Find the Percent of a number

Ni/Do (numerator in/ denominator out), answer must be a fraction! simplify
Change a mixed number to an improper fraction
Multiply the denominator by the whole number, then add the numerator. This will be your new numerator, the denominator remains the same.
Line up the decimals, put zeros in the blank spaces. Compare each place value column.
perimeter of a circle
Circle Graph (pie graph)
Used to display data in parts of a whole. Usually in the form of percents
used to display data by categories or groups.
V = Bh B = AREA of the base
h = height of the 3 dimensional figure
Solving a two step equation
Work the opposite addition / subtraction, then the opposite multiplication / division until you isolate the variable.
the difference between the greatest and the least number.
the middle number when the numbers are in order from least to greatest.
the number or numbers that occur MOST often. it may have more than one mode, or no mode at all.
same sign add
different sign subtract
keep largest absolute value
Keep First number
Change subtraction to addition
Change the sign of next integer
When the signs are the same, your answer is positive.
When the signs are different, your answer is negative.
Negatives on the left, Positives on the right
(number Line) Least --> Greatest
Divide the unit by the rate. Example: 4 pounds of grapes cost $5.00 Then divide $5.00 by 4 to get the unit rate. The lowest unit rate is always the better buy.
