Fourteenth Amendment
The constitutional amendment was adopted after the Civil War and also is the first and only part of the Constitution to invoke the idea of equality. The amendment states "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life , liberty , or property m without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws"

Groups that are exempted from reporting their contributions and can receive unlimited contributions. Section 501c of the tax code specifies that such groups cannot spend more than half their funds on political activities.

Appellate Jurisdiction
The jurisdiction of courts that hear cases brought to them on appeal from lower courts. These courts do not review the factual record , only the legal issues involved.
