ISO 9000
1. Series of standards agreed upon by the international organization for standardization -- ISO
2. Adopted in 1987
3. Prerequisite for global competition
4. ISO 9000 directs you to "document what you do and then do as you documented"
Two major parts: Guidelines & standards
Guidelines:
1. ISO 9000 -- fundamentals and vocabulary
2. ISO 9004 -- Guidelines for performance improvements

1. ISO 9003 -- simplest, only check at final inspection
2. ISO 9002 -- goes through procurement, production & installation
3. ISO 9001 -- goes through, design/development, procurement, production, installation & servicing -- most complex, documentation
