After lincoln died, Johnson still wanted to use lincoln's 10% plan. The problem was that the radical republicans did not trust Johnson because he was a Southern Democrat. Just like John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated lincoln.

The wade-Davis plan, the congressional plan, and the oppositional plan.

it meant the 13th amendment had to be ratified, severely limited voting, and gave congress a bigger role in reconstruction.

The 15th because it gave former slaves a voice in the government.
What was self-determination?
The theory was that if you work hard you will be successful, but if your not successful then your not working hard enough. This did not work because former slaves had no money, education, a place to live, food, etc.
What was the Tenure of Office Act?
This made president Johnson not able to remove any cabinet officer that lincoln appointed, unless congress says he can.
Why did congress want to pass the tenure of office act?
They wanted to get rid of Johnson. They wanted to get him to disobey this law so they would have a reason to impeach him.
What is the process of impeachment?
First there is the investigation step. This is where the house looks at the accusations and decides if it is valid or not. ALso if there is enough evidence to continue the process. Second there is the trail, The judge is the chief of justice, the jury is the senate, and the attorneys are the house of representatives. And lastly there is the decision if they are guilt or not guilty.
