Mc Kittrick Wheelock syndrome
Rarely villous adenoma cause secretory diarrhea with severe fluid electrolyte depletion (cholera like) due to locally released PGE2 which has cyclic AMP like action. It can be inhibited by NSAIDS. The mucoid secretion is rich in protein potassium and bicarbonates causing hypoproteinemia, hypokalemia and hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis and may lead to acute renal failure and cardiovascular collapse.
