A closed two-dimensional shape formed by three or more straight sides that are line segments. The number of sides equals the number of angles.
Triangle
A polygon with three sides and three angles.
Quadrilateral
A polygon with four sides and four angles.
Square
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides, four sides of equal length, and four right angles.
Rhombus
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides and four sides of equal length.
Rectangle
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides, two pairs of sides of equal length, and four right angles.
Parallelogram
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides, and two pairs of sides of equal length.
Trapezoid
A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides.
Pentagon
A polygon with five sides and five angles.
Hexagon
A polygon with six sides and six angles.
Octagon
A polygon with eight sides and eight angles
Decagon
A polygon with ten sides and ten angles
Congruent Figures
Figures that are the same size and shape.
Line of Symmetry
An imaginary line on a shape about which the shape can be folded so that its two parts match exactly.
