Insertion: tendons into posterior tubercles of TP of C2-C6

Longissimus Thoracis Origin, Insertion and action?
Origin: In lumbar region, it blends with Ilicostalis lumborum; posterior surfaces of TP and accessory process of lumbar vertebrae and thoracolumbar fascia
Insertion: By tendons into tips of TP of all thoracic vertebrae & by fleshy digitations into lower 9-10 ribs between tubercles and angles
Action: Extension and latearl flexion to the same side
Iliocostalis Lumborum Origin, Insertion and action?
Origin: common origin from anterior surface of broad tendon attached to medal crest of sacrum; SP of lumbar & T11, T12; posterior part of medial lip of iliac crest; supraspinous ligament & latearl crests of sacrum
Insertion: By tendons into inferior borders of angles of lower 6,7 ribs
ACtion: extend spine, ipsilatearl flexion and some lateral flexion
Iliocostalis Thoracis Origin, Insertion and action?
Origin: By tendons from upper borders of the angles on the lower 6 ribs
Insertion: Carnial borders of angles of upper 6 ribs & dorsum of TP of C7
Action: Spine extension, latearl flexion to the same side
Iliocostalis Cervicis Origin, Insertion and action?
Origin: Angles of ribs 3-6
Insertion: Posterior tubercles of TP of C4-C6
Action: extends spine; lateral flexion to the same side
Multifidus Origin, Insertion and action?
Origin: Sacral Region: posterior surface of sacrum, medial surface of posterio superior iliac spine & posterior sacroiliac ligaments

Insertion: Spanning 2-4 vertebraie, insertion into spinous process of vertebrae above
Action: primary stabilizer of L-spine; Anti- flexion, anti-shear. and spinal extension

Quadratus Lumborum Origin, Insertion and Action?
Origin: Iliac crest and occasionally TP of L3, L4; iliolumbar lumbar ligament
Insertion: Inferior border of rib 12 and TP of L1-L4
Action: assists in extension, laterally flexes the lumbar vertebral column & depresses the last rib
Bilaterally: acts with diaphragm and fixes the last two ribs during respiration

Origin: Caudal 1/2 of ligamentum nuchae; SP of C7; SP of T1-T3 or T4
Insertion: Mastoid process of temporal bone & occipital bone inferior to lateral 1/3 of superior nuchal line

Insertion: Cornoid process of mandible & anterior border of ramus of mandible
Action: Elevates the mandible (closes jaw)

Medial Pterygoid Origin, Insertion and Action?
Origin: Medial surface of latearl pterygoid plate, pyramidal process of palatine bone & tuberosity of maxilla
Insertion: Inferior & posterior part of medial surface of ramus & angle of mandibular foramen
Action: Elevation (closes jaw), protrusion and deviation to opposte side
Lateral Pterygoid Origin, Insertion and Action?
Origin: (superior head) latearl surface of great wing of spenoid & infratemporal crest
(inferior head): latearl surface of latearl pterygoid plate
Insertion: anterior part of condyle of mandible; anterior margin of articular disk of temporomandibular articulation
Action: Assists in opening mouth and controls backward gliding of disk and condyle during closing; protrusion
