Incontinence symptoms
Skin breakdown and social isolation related to embarassment
Constipation
Having frequent or difficult bowel movements as well as having fewer than 3 bowel movements a week
Constipation symptoms
Abdominal cramping, pain, pressure, distension. Induces elevations in introcular pressure
Impaction
Presence of hard fecal mass in the rectum or colon that the pt is incapable of expelling
Impaction symptoms
Oozing, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, distension, cramping and rectal pain. Overtime the mass of stool becomes wedged and cannot be passed regularly
Urinalysis
Indicates the presence of bacteria or blood components in the urine
Occult stool
Done when there is blood in the stool. could be related to a GI bleed (inflammation, infection, hemorrhoids, tumors)
