Sensitivity
clinical scales have high sensitivity and low specificity = more false positives and catch almost all true positives, MMPI is very sensitive, RF less sensitive
(will definitely catch all the psychopathology but some extras who are not pathological will accidentally be included)
(proportions of true positives, probability that test is positive when disorder is present, trying to screen suicidality of vetsA / A+C)
Specificity
RF scales have low sensitivity and high specificity = more false negatives but positives are very accurate and true, MMPI has poor specificity
(RF scales will be accurate in catching psychopathology, but sometimes too specific to the point where some pathological people may be left out)
(proportion of true negatives, probability that test is negative when disorder is absent, substance abuse problem, D / B+D)
