anatomy
The study of body structure
Physiology
the study of how the body and its parts work or function
anatomical imaging
uses radiographs (x-rays), ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other technologies to create pictures of internal structures
Homeostasis
stable control inside and out of the body, stable internal condition by the endocrine system
negative feedback
mostly in homeostatic control or balance, means to shut off the original stimuli reduces intensity
positive feedback
rare response, increase original stimuli(disturbance), two types of positive blood clotting and child birth
anatomical position
To stand erect with arms at the sides and palms of the hands turned forward
organelles
A tiny cell structure that carries out a specific function within the cell
structure
The arrangement of parts in an organism
Transvere Plane
Sections are perpendicular to the vertical orientaion of the body "green slide"
coronal plane
An imaginary plane where the body is cut into front and back parts
11 systems of the body
integumentary- skin
skeletal- frame work
muscular- movement
nervous- body control center
endocrine- body activities
cardiovascular- heart & blood vessels, carries 02 + nutrients
lympathic-cleans blood
respiratory- supply 02 and removes C02
digestive- breakdown & delivers nutrients
urinary- removes waste
reproductive- to produce offspring
how negative feedback works in the body
Negative feedback loops occur in your body through its own internal controller for maintaining temperature, pH, hormone levels, blood sugar and other internal variable levels at homeostasis, which is the optimal internal state at which your body operates
example: Thermoregulation (if body temperature changes, mechanisms are induced to restore normal levels) Blood sugar regulation (insulin lowers blood glucose when levels are high ; glucagon raises blood glucose when levels are low)
how positive feedback works in the body
Positive feedback occurs to increase the change or output: the result of a reaction is amplified to make it occur more quickly.
example: child birth
cavaities
dorsal- cranial and spinal
central- thoracic , abdominopelvic- abdomin and pelvic
adbominopelvic cavity split into quadrants
R.U.Q / LUQ
R.L.Q / LLQ
Regions of the abdomen
right hypochondriac, epigastric(stomach ), left hypochondriac, right lumbar, umbilical(navel) , left lumbar, right iliac, hypogastric(pubic), left iliac
sagittal plane
divides body into left and right
frontal plane
divides the body into anterior and posterior portions
transverse plane
line that divides the body into upper and lower sections
