Naming the parts of a microscope
STUDY
PLAY
eyepiece
The part of the microscope you look through to see object.
body tube
Connects the eyepiece to the objective lens.
arm
The part of the microscope you use to carry the microscope from one location to another.
stage
The black square we place the slide on for viewing.
stage clip
The instruments used to hold the slide in place while viewing.
fine focus
Knob that allows you to make fine focusing adjustments. (small knob)
coarse focus
Knob that allows you to make major focusing adjustments. (large knob)
objective lens
Magnification used to view the objects.
diaphragm
Regulates the amount of light through the stage.
light source
Provides the light to let us see the objects.
revolving nosepiece
Moves the high, medium or low objective lenses.
base
The bottom of the microscope which sits on the desk.
