Standard Deviation

A measure of the average variability in a set of scores.

Confidence Interval

Used to estimate the likelihood that the person's true score falls within a range of the observed score.

A score that expresses an individual's position relative to the mean, based on the standard deviation.

Content Validity

The content of a test should represent all test items that could possibly be used to assess the ability that is being measured.

Criterion-Related Validity

Test validity that is estimated by correlating subjects' scores on a test with their scores on an independent criterion (another measure) of the trait assessed by the test.

Concurrent Validity

The extent to which two measures of the same trait or ability agree

Predictive Validity

The success with which a test predicts the behavior it is designed to predict

Construct Validity

The degree to which a test measures what it claims, or purports, to be measuring

Percentile Rank

The percentage of scores below a specific score in a distribution of scores
