An objective evaluation, on the other hand, is a judgment based on objective criteria, or particular standards of excellence. Your evaluation will have elements of both. Review the criteria you should have listed in your Writer's Notebook. If you feel your criteria aren't well enough developed, get together with your writing group to brainstorm ideas.
When you work on your criteria, ask yourself: What qualities make a short story (or movie) excellent? Then, turn each quality into a statement. What can you say, for example, about the plot of an excellent story? If you say the plot is believable, one of your criteria would be $A$ good short story must have a believable plot.
