IT Proj performance has to be evaluated on more than just on time delivery and budget - need to evaluated if expected benefits were realized
Structural Risk is high when project is either large or technically complex. High levels of structural risk in a project, performance tends to be lower

Information Technology Project Management - collection of techniques and methods that project managers use to plan, coordiante and use in any project management (planning tools such as PERT, Gantt charts, risk management techniques, etc)
What is the most important skill for a successful project manager?
Communication. While technical knowledge is an asset for an TI project manager, the ability to comunicate with technical and business-oriented people about project objectives is a challenge and a key skill

Systems Development Life Cycle - SDLC is the classical process used to acquire information systems.
What does RAD stand for?
Rapid Application Development

Systems Development Life Cycle

2. Requirements analysis

What occurs during the System definition phase?
Define the goals and scope of the new information system. At this step the development team defines the goal and purpose of the new material system in terms of these purposes. Scope defines the size and breadth of the information system
Once this is done, need to access feasiblity (cost, schedule, technical and organizational)
What do system analysts do?
They are IT professionals who understnad both business and technology. They are active through-out the system dvelopment process
What does COTS stand for?
Comercial-Of-the-shelf software. Usually never fits withoug at least some modification
