LBJ war on crime
Lyndon B Johnson's policy during his Great Society programs which targeted the increasing number of citizens under the poverty line. He created the Office of economic opportunity and many other welfare programs to accomplish this (expanded government reach in daily life)

Any policy designed to target problems within a nation's borders (i.e. crime in the US)

Independent regulatory agency created to reduce pollution and make laws protecting the environment

Report required by law from any federally funded agency that assesses the impact of their project on the environment
Clean Air Act
Set emission standards for cars and regulates businesses and factories in their emissions in order to reduce air pollution
Water Pollution Control act
Create laws and allocate funds to maintaining cleaner water sources and created sewage treatment plants
Endangered Species Act
Identifies animal and plant species that are in danger of extinction and creates protection to preserve these species

federal program providing health care for persons over the age of 65

Health care assistance for people in poverty
Veterans Administration
Agency that controls and administers benefits to veterans in the united states
Food and Drug Administration
federal administration the regulates the release of new drugs and foods to the public in order to protect the consumer
Clinton's Health care proposals
Clinton had goals of making health care more affordable and available to more people but it was blocked in congress
Obamacare
The affordable care act; Aimed at regulating the health care system in america by controlling spending and making it more available to more people

The New Deal by FDR increased government reach in daily lives during the great depression in order to get the economy stimulated which was the first form of federal social welfare in the US

Set up a system for elderly giving them retirement when they reached a certain age

War on povery, drugs, education, and racism in the United States name for LBJ's policies aimed at them
Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC)
Federal act that helped administer funds to families with children that were below poverty line. Abolished in 1996
Temporary Assistance for Needy families (TANF)
New name for program that assists families who are below the poverty line
