the exiles were in a crisis and this book made them believe God is still in charge and will bring them goodness

jewish- created by goodness, orderly, meant to be wondered, enjoyed and cared for by humans
babylonian- came from chaos and came from self-serving, violent and destructive deities, made world for own pleasure
