that the individual is more important than the collective, we should not sacrifice the interest of the individual for what people argue is the common good
Skepticism about Power
questioning how the government is using its power. Classical liberals believe that the individual is the best judge of their own interests, not the government or anybody else.
Rule of Law
equality before the law. that there are some higher principles by which we should examine what the government does.
making sure everything is under control and not chaotic.
don't need people to plan their lives. self organized. Do not believe that order requires some institution, somebody to manipulate and organize things, but they believe that order can arise spontaneously.
government should not have a say in how the people run their economy, this should be left to the decision of the people, prices are determined by unrestricted competition between privately owned businesses.
the belief that one should not interfere with things of which one disapproves. the practice of tolerating something, in particular differences of opinion or behavior.
four freedoms - free movement of capital and labor, people, and goods and services. and Free movement of ideas.
that their are very few things that the government can and should do in society. the goal of the government it to protect the (life, liberty and property) of its people.
