Prime Numbers
Whole numbers that have exactly two whole numbers factors: 1 and the number itself. Ex: 2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29
Multiplying Fractions
Multiply the numerators and the denominators. Ex: 4/5x2/3 =8/15
Dividing Fractions
Invert the second fraction and then multiply the two fractions. Ex: 1/5 / 2/3 = 1/5x3/2= 3/10
Adding and Subtracting Fractions
All of the fractions in the problem must have the same denominator
Fraction to Decimal
Divide the denominator into the numerator. Ex: 2/5 = 2 divided by 5= 0.4
Decimal to Fraction
First, know the place value of the decimal. It tells you the denominator of the fraction. Ex: 0.86 = 86/100 = 43/50
Exponent Rules
When multiplying by similar bases, add the exponents. Ex: J3xJ4=J7
When dividing similar bases, subtract the exponents. Ex: r4/r3=r
When raising a power to another power, multiply the exponents.
Ex: (S2)3=S6
Any base (except zero) to the zero power equals 1. Ex: K0=1
