America continues to fight a war there. Their governmaent is officially a republic (people elect their leaders, like a democracy). Its geography (many very rugged mountains) makes it difficult for the government to organize and rule the people.
Egypt
The people forved their ladere out of power this year. The American government supported him.
Iran
In the 1980s they held many American hostages. They are in a very big conflict with the U.S.A. They are a theoacracy.
Iraq
They are currently in war with us.
Israel
The U.S has historically good relations with them. Their government is a democracy.
Jordan
Many Palestinean refugees are there.
Lebanon
Many Palestinean refugees are there.
Libya
Protesting against their leader. They are a dictatorship. America is involved with their conflict.
Pakistan
They and the U.S haven't always been friends and our current relationship is up and down. The afghan war has spilled into their borders.
Saudi Arabia
Monarchy government. Mecca is here. Most oil in the world. Good relations with the U.S
Somalia
Exteremely poor, no central government, and pirates.
Syria
They are terrorists the U.S believes.
Turkey
Just a few years ago, they were the only arab democracy. Good relationship with the U.S.
Yemen
This is another of the countries in the region whose people are grotesting against their leader. Many terrorists. We support their government.
