Quartering Act
required colonists to give British soldiers room and board.
Stamp Act (1765)
Authorized by Prime Minister George Grenville to tax DIRECTLY all paper. Eventually repealed when boycotts in the colonies hurt England.
Declaratory Act
maintained crown's right to impose future taxes on the colonies. Instituted right after the Stamp Act was repealed.
Townshend Acts (1767)
Series of acts which placed duties on imports (an external tax) Reestablished the Writs of Assistance. Eventually repealed after circulation of the Massachusetts circular letter.
