4 line stanza - most common in English language
Rhythm
the BEAT of the poem. One way poets create rhythm is through METER.
Meter
regular pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables.
Rhyme scheme
Pattern of rhymes which gives structure to the poem.
Free Verse
Poetry without a regular meter. May or may not rhyme. Poets want to capture the natural rhythms of conversation.
Blank Verse
UN rhymed iambic pentameter with meter.
Iambic Pentameter
Five stressed syllables per line.
