What is rule 3 of the highway code?
Help other road users to see you by wearing bright fluorescent or reflective clothing to be seen up to three times as far away by drivers

areas of white diagonal stripes are to separate lanes of traffic. when bordered by a solid white line you must not enter unless it is an emergency (personal). when bordered by a broken white line you should not enter unless you need to and it is safe to do so
what is rule 135 of the highway code?
when a single carriage way has three lanes and the middle lane has no priority in either direction, only use the lane for overtaking or turning right and do not use the right hand lane
what is rule 162 of the highway code?
before overtaking you should make sure the road is sufficiently clear, road users are not beginning to overtake you and there is a suitable gap in front of the road user you plan to overtake
what is rule 165 of the highway code?
you must not overtake:
- if you have to cross a solid white line (but see 129)
-if you would have to enter diagonal lines bordered by a solid white line
-if a vehicle is stopped for a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing
-if you would have to enter a bus/tram/cycle lane
-after a no-overtaking sign

do not overtake when there is any doubt, for example on a corne/bend, a hump bridge or the brow of a hill

driving too fast
excessive or sudden breaking
