Mayflower Compact
first agreement of self-government in America (Plymouth colony)
Act of Religious Toleration
or the Maryland Act of Topleration that allowed religious freedome to all Christians in the state (Lord Baltimore is responsible for it)
Navigation Acts
(of 1650, 1660, 1663, and 1696) said the British colonies could only import goods on British ships and taxed goods to regualte colonial trade

(1751 and 1764) banned the production of papaer money in the colonies
Petition of Right
1628, document that gave Parliamnet more power over the king and authority over taxation. Also, free citizens couldn't be arrested w/o cause, soldiers couldn't quarter w/o compensation, and martial law can't be declared during peace time.
Habeas Corpus Act
1679, established the right to an arrested person to have a Writ of Habeas Corpus, or the Great Writ, so that they can challenge their accusations
Peace of Utrecht
ended Queen Anne's War and gave Britain some of France's previosly conquered areas
Treaty of Paris of 1763
ended the Seven Years' War (aka the French and Indian War) where France lost land to the Spain and Great Britain
Proclamation of 1763
forbade British colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains
Writs of Assistance
search warrants by the British to find contraband on ships, in homes, anywhere.
Sugar Act
1764, replaced the Molasses Act of 1733 and lowered the tax on sugary

gave the East India Trading Company a monopoly on the trade in tea (colonies can only by British tea)
