A British soldier would say that it was unfair because they were not paid a lot of money and they needed other jobs. They would think its unfair and it was not their fault that they wanted jobs and so did the colonists. They would think that they have the right to the jobs because they are from Britain.
What opinion might a British soldier have had about the Boston Massacre? Explain and support your response.
I do not think that the British government acted wisely because they set the stage for the colonist's rebellion. Yes, they were in need of money but they didn't have to get so much at one time to make the colonists mad. They could have been sneakier about it and just taken money in smaller increments. When the colonists rebel, they lose money in war and they lose all tax money.
Explain whether you think the British government acted wisely in its dealings with the colonies between 1765 and 1775. Support your explanation with examples.
I think that if King George accepted the Olive Branch Petition, he would be a somewhat of a good leader for a short period of time, but eventually when Britain needed money he would tax the colonies again and the cycle would start over. I think that the colonists made the right decision in pressing for independence
Imagine that King George had accepted the Olive Branch Petition and sought a diplomatic resolution with the Congress. DO you think colonists would still have pressed for independence?
America has a mission to be free and have equality for all is what mankind is aiming for. America wants to have equal rights just like mankind should be striving for.
Thomas Paine wrote in the Introduction to Common Sense, "The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind." Evaluate the significance of Paine's statement.
If burgouyne captured Saratoga, the war would be changed because the British wouldn't of changed their war strategy. The British would be more likely to fight inland and the colonists would have a chance to surround them easier and possibly win a bigger battle.
Imagine that Burgoyne and the British had captured Saratoga in 1777. How might the course of the war changed?
A problem would be that women had to manage the farms, shops, and businesses along with their households and families. The women would have the jobs of two people all on them which would be really stressful and difficult.
If you were a woman civilian during the beginning of the American Revolution what problem caused by the war do you think would affect you the most?
No. I do not think that the Colonists could of won without the aid from foreigners because Friedrich von stupen transformed our troops to do things like stand to attention executer field maneuvers, fire and reload quickly and wield bayonets. That greatly helped the colonists fight with the British and they wouldn't be able to do it without that. marquis de Lafayette fought to get French support which helped greatly in the war
Do you think the colonists could have won independence without aid from foreigners? Explain.
The war left many people dead so there was a lower population. There was uncertainty with the native Americans. It made class distinction between rich and poor because the wealthy wore homespun clothing. military leaders showed belief in the equality of all people. Many northern states took steps to outlaw slavery.
What were the effects of the Revolutionary War on the American colonies?
I think the biggest factor facing the country was creating a new government because it would be a huge challenge to get everyone to agree on one thing and to set up a government that would last and provide freedom to all without one person having too many rights.
In your opinion, what was the single biggest challenge facing the new country? Why?
The states were afraid of centralized authority because that is what they had in England and they didn't want a repeat of what had happened in the last 100 years.
Why were states afraid of centralized authority and strong national government?
The main problem was that because the articles couldn't be amended without the consent of every state and a single state could stall the amendment process. Therefore, if the government needed to be changed, it would be very difficult.
What was the main problem with the system of representation by state that was adopted by the confederation?
I do not think that we would be a world power under the articles of Confederation because on of the main reasons that America is a world power is because we fought in the Cold war. It would be very difficult to fight in that war because not everyone would agree to fight.
Do you think that the United States would have become a world power if the Articles of
Confederation had remained the basis of government? Explain.
