APHORISM
A brief, cleverly worded statement that makes a wise observation about life.
ASSONANCE
Repeated use of the same vowel sound in words that are close together.
CONSONANCE
Repetition of a consonant sound within two or more words in close proximity.
CONTRAST
To be very different from something else
FIRST PERSON
A personal point of view using the "I" point of view. May also contain me, our, we, us.
FORM
Shape.
HOMOPHONE
One of two or more words that have the same pronunciation but different spellings and different meanings.
JOURNALISM
The work of gathering and reporting news for newspapers, magazines, and other media.
LITERATURE
Written works that have lasting value or interest. It includes novels, plays, short stories, essays, and poems.
QUOTATION
A sentence or short passage from a book, play, or speech that is repeated by someone else.
SECOND PERSON SONNET
A sonnet that is written in the second person point of view. It uses the word "you".
SYMBOLISM
A person, place, thing, or event that has meaning in itself also represents something else
TABLE
A chart that lists facts and figures, usually in columns.
TALE
A story that is not true.
TERM
A word with a specific meaning in some particular field.
THIRD PERSON
Narrator is not a character, but sees the world through only one character's eyes and thoughts.
