A Muslim empire based in Turkey and lead by Turks, that lasted from the 1300's to 1922. Many Arabs were living in this empire but were not considered equals to the Turks.

Document made in 1914 in order to call for Arab independence from Turkey/ Ottoman Empire.

A British Army officer and diplomat who served as the High Commissioner in Egypt from 1915 to 1917.
Sharif Hussein bin Ali
Leader of Great Arab Revolt against the Ottomans, who provided military support to the British in WW1 in exchange for their support for an independent Arab state post-war. Was quite angry when betrayed. Friend of Lawrence of Arabia; father of Prince Faisal.

He led a Arab soldiers during WW1 to defeat the Turks using guerrilla warfare.
Sykes-Picot Agreement
A 1916 agreement between the British and the French to divide up the territory of the soon-to-collapse Ottoman Empire.
Treaty of Versailles
The treaty imposed on Germany by the Allied powers in 1920 after the end of World War I in which the Allies demanded exorbitant reparations from the Germans.
Mandates
A territory governed by another nation on behalf of the League of Nations to prepare them for self-rule.
