Two numbers are additive inverses of each other if their sum is 0: -4+4=0.
An expression that is written using one or more variables: 2a+5 or a+b.
A sentence that uses an equals sign to show that two groups are equal: y=3+7.
A sentence that shows the relationship between quantities that are not equal, using <, >, <, > sings: 6<9.
Operations that undo each other: 20-5=15 and 15+5=20.
The reciprocal of a number: The muliplicative inverse of 2 is 1/2.
A letter used to represent one or more numbers: in 5a and 2y=8; a and y are variables.
