At what point in the story do you realize that the storyteller is a hit man?
In the fourth sentence "So was the note with the name of the mark". The previous sentence had already talked about an envelope and money. The mark being of course the person he was supposed to kill.
What is the name of the person the hit man was supposed to kill. How is he described.
Patrcik Grace. He is described as a Novel Peace Prize winning good man. Probably not anybody in the world bettet than him.
Where and under what circumstances had the hit man and the "mark" met before?
Grace came to an orphanage to visit where the hitman had been an orphan living under horrendous conditions.
What did Grace promise to the hitman at the orphanage? Why did he promise him this?
He hugged the young boy who would become a hit man and felt how scared he was. He lifted his shirt and saw marks from where he had been hit. He promised him that nobody would ever hit him again.
How do we know whether Grace kept his promise or not?
The storyteller says that after Grace´s visit the orphanage got new director and new staff and conditions improved and nobody every hit him again.
Why could the hit man possibly have a problem with fulfilling his contract?
Because Grace was the only man on this whole ugly planet who he owed a favour to.
Why did the hit man intend to honor his contract despite the answer to question 6?
He never tries to understand the people he kills and business is business. He has to keep his repuatation if he wants to stay in this line of work.
Is the hit man comfortable with his thoughts while he is setting up in the rented room for the hit? How do we know it?
No, not at all. He keeps trying to think about other things than what he is about to do. He even says that only a crazy person would kill such a kind man as Grace.
Why didn´t the hit man go trought with the hit?
Grace get up to help a homeless person right as the hit man is about to shoot. Grace looks up and he sees himself in Grace. He can no longer go trought with it.
Does the hit man admit that he tried to kill Grave but couldn´t? How do we know this?
He doesn´t admit that he had been in the room across the road about to pull the trigger. He plays it cool and pretends that he was just walking up to him because he knew him.
What surprising fact do we find out when the hit man tries to give the money to Grace?
That it was Grace who hired him in the first place.
What justification does Grace give the hit man for his actions?
He says that he suffers on everyone else´s behalf and he is weary of living like this. He has never lied or stolen, he can´t even eat without giving hif food way to someone who is hungrier, and he can´t sleep because there are homeless people around that don´t have bad to sleep in. He suffers form his goodness, can´t live like this anymore, but can´t take his own like.
All troughhout the story Grace is being described as a famous biblical figure. What figure? Name at least four clues that point to this figure?
The bibical figure is Jesus.

2) He is described as a good man.
3) He has shoulder lenght hair.
4) When Grace helps the homeless man his face "glowed like the paintings of the saints on church walls."
5) He says he has never lied, never stolen and always turns the other cheek.
6) He says his body is possessed by angel.
7) When asking the hit man to go though with the hit he says he is like "Jesus on the cross, just like Jesus".
Was the hit man able to continue in his careed after this ecperience? How do we know this?
Yes, the story goes on to say that the hit man kills senator in Dallas three days later.
