This place may be shabby, but since both of my children were born while we lived here, it has a special place in my heart.
This place does need some repairs, but I'm sure the landlord will be making improvements sometime soon.
When we move away, we're planning to release three hundred cockroaches and two mice, so we can leave the place exactly as we found it.
Often you feel you've done nothing when you've actually done a lot. That's because what you did do seemed beneath notice—it was so small that it didn't "count." But it did—just as each stitch counts toward a finished dress, each brick or nail toward a house you can live in, each mistake toward knowing how to do things right.
Why do these things always happen to me? Brad wondered. First I forget an important meeting, and nobody reminds me until it's over. Then my boss dumps a big project on my desk and wants it done by yesterday. And to top everything off, I leave my wallet on the bus.
"Oh! No mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not be so hideous as that wretch. I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then; but when those muscles and joints were rendered capable of motion, it became a thing such as even Dante could not have conceived." -Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
"It was a mighty nice family, and a mighty nice house, too. I hadn't seen no house out in the country before that was so nice and had so much style. It didn't have an
iron latch on the front door, nor a wooden one with a buckskin string, but a brass knob to turn, the same as houses in a town.... There was a clock on the middle of the mantel-piece, with a picture of a town painted on the bottom half of the glass front. It was beautiful
to hear that clock tick...." - Huck Finn, Mark Twain
And then, in an explosion of joy and grace, into the air they sprang! Not only were the laws of the land abandoned, but the law of gravity and the laws of motion as well. They reeled, whirled, swiveled, flounced, capered, gamboled, and spun. They leaped like deer on the moon. The studio ceiling was thirty feet high, but each leap brought the dancers nearer to it. It became their obvious intention to kiss the ceiling. They kissed it. - Harrison Bergeron, Vonnegut
From one thousand mountains the birds' flights are gone;
From ten thousand byways the human track has vanished.
In a single boat, an aged man, straw cloak and hat,
Fishes alone; snow falls, cold in the river. - Liu Tsung-yüan
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry? - William Blake
I wish that I could go
Through the red doors where I could put off
My shame like shoes in the porch
My pain like garments,
And leave my flesh discarded lying
Like luggage of some departed traveller
Gone one knows not where.- D. H. Lawrence
self- deprecating
You should have loved a god; I am but dust. - Richard Aldington
Not for me the other dogs, running by my side,
Some have run a short while, but none of them would bide.
O mine is still the lone trail, the hard trail, the best,
Wide wind, and wild stars, and hunger of the quest!
You got me at your mercy
Now that I'm in love with you
So please don't take advantage
Cause you know my love is true
Darling please, please love me too
I beg of you
Young mom, on her own
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go
She's looking for a job, looking for a way out
'Cause a halfway house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
"Someday we'll find our place here in this world"
So, you thought that I'd crumble to my knees
At the first sight of you crawling back to me
To whisper "will you leave your man? "
Cause you swear that this time you can stand by me.
I won't stand by you.
Everything you own in the box to the left
In the closet that's my stuff yes
If I bought it, please don't touch
And keep talking that mess, that's fine
But could you walk and talk at the same time
And It's my mine name that is on that Jag
So remove your bags let me call you a cab
It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all!
Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart used to know
Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December
Think of a wonderful thought
Any merry little thought
Think of Christmas, think of snow
Think of sleigh bells - off you go!
Like a reindeer in the sky
You can fly! You can fly! You can fly!
But suddenly an angel has smiled at me
And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright
I dare to dream that she might even care for me
And as I ring these bells tonight
My cold dark tower seems so bright
I swear it must be Heaven's light
If you got beauty, beauty, just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of you is perfect
From the bottom to the top
Oh, won't you stay with me?
'Cause you're all I need
This ain't love it's clear to see
But darling, stay with me
It's Friday! Friday!
Gotta get down on Friday!
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday, gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah!), partyin', partyin' (Yeah!)
Fun, fun, fun, fun, lookin' forward to the weekend!
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
So honey now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are
I'd probably pull an Angelina and Brad Pitt
And adopt a bunch of babies that ain't never had it
Give away a few Mercedes like, "Here, lady, have this"
And last but not least grant somebody their last wish
I'm gonna aim my headlights into your bedroom windows
Throw empty beer cans at both of your shadows
I didn't come here to start a fight, but I'm up for anything tonight
You know you broke the wrong heart, baby,
And drove me redneck crazy
You are my love
You are my life
My heart and soul
The truest friend i've ever known
You are my world
All of my dreams
My fantasy, my reality
I love everything you are
Fetch me my jimmy choo flip flops,
Where is my pink prada tote?
I need my Tiffany hair band,
And then I can go for a float.
I want more! I want more!
You need to give it up.
Had about enough.
It's not hard to see,
the boy is mine.
Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy
But give the Devil his due
I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul
I think I'm better than you
The boy said, "My name's Johnny
And it might be a sin
But I'm gonna take your bet, you're gonna regret
I'm the best there's ever been
My name is no
My sign is no
My number is no
You need to let it go
You need to let it go
Need to let it go
Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
I swear you looked right through me.
But I'm still living with your goodbye,
and you're just going on with your life.
How can you just walk on by
without one tear in your eye?
Don't you have the slightest feelings left for me?
Maybe that's just your way
of dealing with the pain,
forgetting everything
between our rise and fall
like we never loved at all.
