1958, Eisenhower- The act expanded the amount of federal funds allocated to elementary and secondary education dramatically with hopes of preparing a new generation of highly educated citizens who would advance the United States&#039; reputation as a leader in scientific innovation.

1965, Johnson- This law brought education into the forefront of the national assault on poverty and represented a landmark commitment to equal access to quality education

Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)

1994, Clinton- attempted to coordinate federal resources and policies with the pre existing efforts at the state and local levels to improve instruction for all students.

2001, Bush- re-authorization of ESEA. This re-authorization required increased accountability from schools both from the teachers and from the students.

2015, Obama- the law offered flexibility to states from some of the law&#039;s most cumbersome provisions.

1974- The purpose of this legislation was to provide federal financial assistance to the states that had implemented programs for identification, prevention, and treatment of instances of child abuse and neglect.

stipulates that federal funds may be withdrawn from any education agency or institution that (1) fails to provide parents access to their child&#039;s education records or (2) disseminates such information (with some exceptions) to third parties without parental permission.

requires covered entities to protect individuals&#039; health records and other identifiable health information by requiring appropriate safeguards to protect privacy, and setting limits and conditions on the uses and disclosures that may be made of such information without patient authorization.

1972- educational recipients of federal financial assistance are prohibited from discriminating, excluding, or denying benefits because of sex.
